Collecting Light
Media: Found materials, glue
Size: 10' x 5'
Installed in Dublin, VA and completed in 2014, and was created to create a dialogue between the human separation of the home and the outside environment. When humans are no longer here to defend their "home" what beauty will nature make of our absence? A go-pro was set on this piece for three months, throughout the autumn season and into early winter the camera took a shot every 30 seconds. These images were later compiled in a 2:34 minute video piece titled, "Collecting Breeze" which has been exhibited in three different galleries to date. The video can be found on youtube,

Secret Garden
Media: Found materials, glue
"Secret Garden" is the installation collaborated with artist Kelly Hill, that really put my love for moss as a medium into high gear. This was made to show was beautiful things can be made when nature is left to its own devices. It has been titled, "Secret Garden", for it is my dearest wish that in all dwellings there is a secret room full of magic and nature. By placing nature in the house, a barrier has been broken, the rule that dirt stays outside has no concept of meaning in this room.
evolved comfort
Media: Moss, glue, textiles, recycled styrofoam
Size: 6' x 4.5'
Evolved Comfort was completed in 2015, and was made as an installation for the Jacksonville Art Center in Floyd, VA. Using my own body dimensions, a figure emerges from the moss covered form. Making connections between human existence and our natural environment, I am demonstrating how our lives are so closely knit with nature, that we are literally surviving only because it still does. Nature's comforts will be no more if our race does not do more to counteract the major damage we have already inflicted upon our earth.
collecting space
Media: Found materials, recycled styrofoam, glue
Dimensions: 10' x 8'
"Collecting Space" was made as an installation to accompany the other pieces in the "Collecting Series", and was displayed at the Armory Gallery in Blacksburg, VA in December, 2014. I am fascinated with the relationship humans have between the separation of the home and the outside environment. When humans are no longer here to defend their "home" what beauty will nature make of our absence?
collecting senses
Media: Found Materials, textiles, paper, and glue
Dimensions: 4' x 5' x 4'
"Collecting Senses" was made in part of the "Collecting Series", completed in 2014. By creating an image of a head, the surface is covered in moss and at night the features are highlighted using spot lights. This was created after thinking about what would the shrines we have left to mankind will appear decades after our race is no longer here to defend its "property".
